Healthier Mind, Body, & Spirit
LYLAS joined forces with Nuria Beauty and She’s the First to produce a self-care event at Showfields. The event provided ways to give back by investing in the education of girls around the world, pampering with Nuria’s face masks, and an exercise on opening the heart from LYLAS member, Kerri Lowe.
During the Midterms, our community gathered on election day at Dirty Precious to watch the outcomes and share why they voted, what they were voting for, and how they plan to stay involved or keep the conversation going on the issues they care most about. As one member said: “It’s easy to feel like I’m shouting into a void, but seeing the number of people in my neighborhood show up and shout along side me was awesome.”
Our members posted up with postage at Grimm Artisanal Ales to write love letters to the women that inspire us. Before these handmade valentines were sent around the world, we talked about what inspired us to write to our Galentine’s and the importance of showing appreciation year round.
That Time of the Month
We partnered with That Time of the Month and asked our members to bring factory-sealed packages of menstrual hygiene products that were then donated to Iris House, a local organization providing comprehensive support, prevention and education services for women, families, and under served populations affected by HIV/AIDS.
